About Trellised Solutions and Susan Weinrich

I have spent my entire career in the nonprofit and social justice community and have more than 25 years of experience as a consultant and capacity building advisor.  I am based in Saratoga Springs and provide in person and virtual assistance.

My interests and areas of expertise include strategic planning and community needs assessments, organizational development and board development, supervisory training, team building, and succession planning.

For the past 21 years I have worked at the New York Council of Nonprofits, providing training and technical assistance to organizations throughout New York State. During this time I worked with a wide range of organizations and missions and am familiar with the funding and regulatory environment that impacts their ability to serve the community. These include, but are not limited to:

  • affordable housing and related services
  • environmental justice organizations
  • health and human services organizations
  • mental health and substance abuse organizations
  • arts organizations, museums, and historical societies

I decided to name my consulting business Trellised Solutions because I like the idea that my work with organizations can help them thrive. I am a gardener and like to use a variety of trellises to support plants and enable them to grow vertically into the sun.

Feedback from past clients

“We had the pleasure of working with Susan not once,  but twice, developing strategic plans. She has an amazing skill for taking large quantities of information from stakeholders and turning it into a workable document. Susan is also a gifted facilitator, and does a wonderful job encouraging people to contribute in a meaningful way to team exercises and retreats. Susan has been integral in moving our organization forward over the last decade, and we’re very grateful for her expertise and knowledge.”

Mary Zawacki Graves, Executive Director: Schenectady County Historical Society

“Susan is an extremely seasoned non-profit professional, who takes the time to learn all about your organization and understand exactly what it is your board, staff, or organization needs to excel. She was crucial in helping our non-profit transition from a working board to a governing body as our organization continued to grow and mature in that capacity. Susan’s ability to read a room, engage board members, and take a deep dive into what makes our organization unique helped us create a strategic plan that has been easy to follow and attainable. She should be your go-to for all things board/staff development and strategic planning, I can’t recommend her enough.”

Kayla Carlozzi, Executive Director, North Country Ministry

“Susan worked with us where we were at, attuning to the culture of our organization while guiding us towards a feasible growth plan. She helped us tackle challenging questions in bite size steps, and we walked out of our work with her with an implementable road map for how to take our organization and our work to the next level. Things are going great with SMT. We identified new income streams during our organizational review, which now accounts for 10%-15% of our annual income.  We’re running online classes that are proving quite successful, and we are set up to run two residencies this year, as according to our programmatic goals.”
